Internet of things

One topic which we touch on in my teaching is ubiquitous computing. You might have a look at an article at . It’s interesting because it goes along with what I’ve been saying for a while – that we are going to see lots of domestic machines on the Internet in a few years, not in a futuristic getting-a-robot-to-load-the-dishwasher way but in a simple way that in a few years fridges and central heating systems and so on will have IP addresses as a matter of course. But also the Pachube site (follow the link towards the bottom of the article) is interesting in terms of some of the geographically-related systems that we’ll be looking at as time goes on.
