Telepresence

Here’s an example that really sums up what I understand by Telepresence at http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2007/sep/13/guardianweeklytechnologysection.news . Incidentally the photo in the print version of the Guardian is better than the one on the web page, as there’s a rather flimsy-looking cardboard box below the webcam and monitor. Also interesting is that this is clearly informed by the concept of ‘management by walking around’ – commonly attributed to the management guru Tom Peters but, according to http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/abouthp/histnfacts/timeline/hist_40s.html , favoured by Dave Packard (of Hewlett Packard) as much as 60 years ago
